A big THANK YOU goes out to Leonarda Sabey of The Wallace Idaho Preservation Society who very generously sent me photos of The Turners' home in Wallace in the mid 1920's among other historical Wallace odds and ends. Isabella I did send you an email thanking you but it kept getting sent back to me. I will keep trying though! Added new photos of the Turner home in 1924-1925, another home that the Turners may or may not have lived in and a photo of The Wallace Idaho Corner building (where Lana's father, Virgil Turner, was employed) to the 1924 section of the timeline, added a postcard of Wallace to the first part of the biography section and added two new photos (of the Wallace Idaho fire department circa 1923 and the historic Kelly Building circa 1925) to the Wallace Idaho section of the encyclopedia.

Your Web Mistress is a genius!

I have mentioned in a couple of different sections of the site that Lana Turner was born at Providence Hospital in Wallace and had mentioned that the hospital was located at the mouth of Burke Canyon which I presumed was a small section of the town. Well when I was thumbing through some Wallace literature today there was a whole section on the TOWN of Burke, Idaho which was eight miles away. That would mean that everything that had been written about Lana being born in Wallace has been incorrect up until now. She was FROM Wallace, sure, but Mildred actually gave birth to her in Burke, which I have uncovered. Wallace Idaho historians claim that they lived in a "long gone house by the railroad tracks" before moving to 217 Bank Street in Wallace in 1924. I suspect (and this is only my suspicion) that they may have lived in Burke for a while before settling in Wallace.

So remember to add the word "Burke" to your Lana Turner vocabulary...
